Understand
Daytona Beach was founded by Matthias Day, who named the city. It was incorporated in 1876. In 1926, it merged with Seabreeze, a neighboring and previously separate city.
The city is known worldwide for its many motorcycle or motorcycle races on its sandy beaches or on its circuit, the Daytona International Speedway.
Daytona Beach made famous as the "center of the world of packaging" and home of NASCAR, is part of Florida's largest central metropolitan area. Daytona Beach is best known among the seven local communities. Although the 23-mile wide right end of the white sandy beach is still the biggest attraction here, with more than 8 thousand visitors gathering in the area each year, the metro area is rapidly changing from the Mecca event to the family-oriented resource destination. The area is experiencing the Renaissance of sorts. Historical sites like the main street pillar, the Coastal Promenade and the Clocktower in Coastal Park add to the appeal of this exciting city.
